Big Data Science Workshop

Providence College of Engineering, Chengannur, in collaboration with Machine Intelligence Research Labs (MIR Labs), USA and Technical University of Malaysia Malacca (UTeM) organized an outstanding International Workshop titled “Big Data Science”, on 8th June 2015 at Marriott Hotel, Kochi.

The goal of this international workshop was to share state of the art data science perspectives relating to new opportunities and challenges brought forth by the big data movement. The workshop provided a platform for all enthusiasts to learn from eminent professionals visiting from the US and Malaysia. The participants were exposed to the opportunities, evolution, perspectives and practical aspects of big data science processes.

Speaking at the workshop were distinguished academics and researchers:

  • Prof. Dr. Ajith Abraham, Research Professor at VSB – TOU, Czech Republic and Director – MIR Labs
    • Topic: ‘Big Data Science: Challenges, Perspectives, Applications’
  • Prof. Dr. Rabiah Ahmad, UTeM University ICT Faculty
    • Topic: ‘Security issue on big data’
  • Dr. YunHuoy Choe, UTeM University ICT Faculty
    • Topic: ‘Root cause analysis on manufacturing failure diagnosis’
  • Prof. Dr. Azah Kamilah Muda, UTeM University ICT Faculty
    • Topic: ‘Big data scenario in Malaysia: Challenges and Collaborative opportunities’

Researchers from engineering colleges and business schools across India participated. Faculty members from Toc H Institute of Science & Technology and Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology were also involved in the coordination of the workshop, which was convened by Prof. Dr. Santhosh P. Mathew, Principal of Providence College of Engineering, Chengannur.

Mr. Nitin Mathew, Management Representative and member of the Governing Board of Providence College of Engineering warmly welcomed the gathering, while Prof. Vincent H Wilson, Principal, Toc H Engineering College and Prof. Dr. K.G Balakrishnan, Director, Providence College of Engineering, offered their felicitations on the occasion.

All in all, this event truly marked the remarkable entry of Providence College of Engineering, Chengannur into the growing education industry in Kerala.
