Mr Thomas Kurien, Director at Ooredoo Qatar, visited the campus on 6th October 2015 and gave a motivational talk about his experiences and successes, to the students of Providence College of Engineering.
Mr Kurien is currently working as the director of the COO's office for Ooredoo in Qatar. Prior to this he was with Bell Laboratories Research & Development in the US where he received US patents for Caller ID and for Context Sensitive Display. He was also part of many breakthrough inventions in the telecommunications field and has enjoyed commercial success in mobile and fiber-to-the-home products. He served as the NOMNOM Director for the IETF Standard Organization from 2000-2003, as the Editor of the prestigious Bell Labs Journal and was awarded Distinguished Member of Technical Staff by the President of Bell Labs in 1998.
He is an alumnus of Trichur Engineering College, prior to post graduate studies in the US. Residing in the US with his wife Vincy and their two children and families, Mr Kurien spends his time sharing his expreriences with students and youth at conferences in the US, UK, Qatar and India.
